Early Rotary Engines

My latest project will be disassembly and inspection of multiple early rotary engines. We have two 12a's and two older 4 port 13b's. These were the customer's spare engines that were in storage. Crazy to think that these engines are 40 and 50 years old. Despite that, they still look great and will be ready for whatever the future holds for them.

Stock Port 13b-REW

This customer needed a quick turnaround on the engine in his RHD 3rd Gen RX-7. Running stock ports and a very rare HKS twin disc clutch and Apexi turbo kit straight from Japan. Like all turbo builds I upgraded the stationary gear bolts and used Goopy apex seals.

Half-Bridge 13b 6-Port

For this motor I was given one task, make the meanest 13b I could. This motor got a half-bridgeport, resurfaced housings, and a RacingBeat front pulley. We also sent the rotating assembly to Mazdatrix for lightening, race clearancing, and balancing. The rotor housings and front cover were paint matched to the body color of the '72 Datsun 1200 that this engine would be powering. A maxed-out 13b in a car that weighs under 1400lbs.

Half-Bridge 13b-REW

Finishing up an REW motor from a customer's FD RX-7. This one suffered some rotor damage and recieved two brand new rotors from Mazda. The engine had a big half-bridgeport from a previous builder (a little thin for my liking personally). It also got Goopy apex seals and upgraded stationary gear bolts, like all of my turbo builds, IRP "RX-8 style" 2-piece corner seals, and a Turbosource stud kit. With the right setup this engine is capable of 500+hp. This car has alot of sentimental value to the customer and it was an honor to keep it brapping for years to come.
